People screaming on streets of Mumbai, the financial capital of India, blood spilt on streets, bullets being open fired on public, multiple bomb blasts and what not! Mayhem! Mayhem! Mayhem!😢🩸............... yes you are right, I'm talking about the 26/11 attacks of Mumbai, the then government realized the need of a special force that would counter terrorism in the city and the surrounding regions. This Special force is called ...... the

Force One

This special force whose only aim is to protect the city of dreams Mumbai and the entire Maharashtra legislature was formed on the 26th day of November in 2010. It must be noted that the 'Force One' is a counter terrorism unit of the Mumbai Police and its primary aim is to protect Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan region. It also serves some politicians across the state. 

Who Serves?

The commandos serving in the force are some of the fittest young volunteers from the Maharashtra Police. Only 4-5% of the volunteers who apply succeed. The maximum age for constables is 28 and for officers is 35. The commandos are trained in -
  • Maharashtra Intelligence Academy
  • College of Military Engineering
  • DRDO.

First Responders

Though there is a NSG hub in Mumbai, in case any terror attack takes place, the 'Force One'  is expected to respond first.

Headquarters

The headquarters of the 'Force One' are spread over 96 Acres inside the Goregaon's Aarey Colony. 

Interesting Fact

You'll be surprised to know that the 'Force One' has trained the Mozambique police, quick response teams of Maharashtra Police, Railway Protection Force and even the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
